  • Perf Raw mouse input path (WM_INPUT) for zero-smoothing aim.
  • Fix Cloak per-tick disk I/O removed; cloak stalls on open gone.
Build 0.9.4ShippedJul 2026

  • Fix GUI blur feedback on some servers resolved; cloak plane aliasing squashed.
Build 0.9.5ShippedJul 2026

The long-running GUI blur leak is root-caused and killed, shader packs stop freezing the game, and first-fight texture hitches are pre-loaded away.

See details
  • Perf Name tags: 304 to 371 FPS in a full lobby. Every label was being laid out four times a frame for text that never changed; it is worked out once and replayed.
  • Perf Changing a resource pack: 1,573ms to 548ms.
  • Fix GUI blur draws under a shaderpack for the first time.
  • Fix Foliage stops shimmering at distance.
  • Feat Cloaks hang on an eight-segment cloth simulation.
Build 1.0.11LatestSep 2026

Sign-in works again. Microsoft removed our app registration from their approved list on 20 August, which is why sign-in had been failing; this build signs in a different way that works today, and switches back on its own if they approve us.

See details
  • Fix Sign-in no longer fails at the Minecraft step. The launcher falls back to a route that works, and returns to the normal one by itself once the registration is approved.
  • Feat The sign-in window shows its code, says when you are signed in, and can be cancelled or closed with Escape.
  • Fix A dialog raised while nobody is signed in no longer renders underneath the sign-in gate.

What next?

More Minecraft versions, with 1.12.2 and 1.20.1 in the works. Then more mods folded in natively, deeper theming, and Fabric alongside Forge.

The road ahead

The road ahead

In progress

Minecraft 1.12.2

The client rebuilt for 1.12.2, module for module: the same HUD, the same render tiers, the same cosmetics. Being written now against the 1.12.2 mappings, and it lands when it behaves like the 1.8.9 build does.

In progress

Minecraft 1.20.1

The modern branch. Newer Minecraft, same client on top of it, so a profile you build on 1.8.9 is a profile you can take forward instead of starting again.

Coming soon

The Sour Gold cloak

A cloak drawn for Sour Gold itself, on the same eight-segment cloth the custom ones hang on. One design, ours, worn by the people who pay for the thing that makes custom cloaks possible.

Planned

More mods, folded in natively

Sour Client keeps replacing the mod folder. More of the mods people juggle today, rebuilt as native modules that ship on and cost nothing, each held to the same performance bar as the rest of the client.

Planned

A growing cosmetics line

More cloak types, more drape styles, and animated cosmetics, so what you can wear keeps growing long after you install it.

Planned

Deeper theming

Custom launcher and in-game backgrounds, per-screen accents, and shareable theme presets, building on the one-accent system that already themes launcher, client and this site together.

Planned

More platforms

Windows first. Mac and Linux builds are being evaluated once the Windows client is fully stable.

Planned

Fabric, alongside Forge

1.8.9 is home and comes first, and every build so far is a Forge build. Running the same modules on Fabric, and on a plain vanilla launcher, is the direction after the versions above.
